Overview of Trademark Protection
in Israel

In the biotechnological arts, it is typical that applications directed to such inventions refer to either nucleic acid or amino acid sequences in the body of the application and/or in the claims.  Such sequences are compiled in a sequence listing, and the Applicant is required to provide a digital copy of the sequence listing on a CD-ROM to the Israel Patent Office.  In addition, the sequence listing must be incorporated as part of the application, and may not be supplied as an appendix thereto.

It should be noted that in accordance with Israel Patent Practice, claims directed to polynucleotides or polypeptides, if defined only by their sequence and not by their sequence and functional characteristics, must be worded as a polynucleotide or polypeptide containing such sequence.
